I ended 2023 by making $100 in revenue selling Notion templates, which is a huge milestone for me. I started my journey in October and made only $8. Thanks to you, my templates sold like hotcakes in the New Year 🙂

Here is what I learned:

Focus on Quality AND Quantity

I did not waste time promoting my templates on social media and focused on making high-quality templates instead. I uploaded 18 templates on Notion Template Gallery, where I got most of my customers.
Almost all of my templates have made revenue, including my 10-in-1 bundle! More templates meant more visitors to my store, which led to more sales.

Keep it Simple

Most of my best-selling templates are the simplest ones. This also surprised me, as my competitors sold extremely complicated templates. The Moving Homes Planner Template is the most popular template in my store, and it is mostly filled with checkboxes!
In my opinion, people love using Notion because it saves time, and I make my templates look extremely easy! It should not need a 1-hour tutorial to use a template targeted for personal use.

Remind yourself why you love Notion

It is very easy to get intimidated seeing your competitors. I constantly compared myself to other’s results and experienced imposter syndrome. I still deal with it. Then, I remind myself why I believe in the power of this tool.
I use Notion for everything, which includes writing the draft for this email and tracking the progress of my business for FREE! I rarely use any other tool, and my mission is to make everyone realize its potential.

Target various niches as a beginner

I saw lots of gurus talk about TARGETING A NICHE! It makes sense, but what if you use Notion for several things? What if you use Notion to plan your meals, run your business, and track your weight loss?
That’s why, as a beginner, I made templates inspired by my use of Notion and made templates that I knew were FUNCTIONAL from personal experience. Result: Almost every template has made revenue, from my Home Manager to my Medication Tracker.

Stand out with your design

I thought this was a huge risk. Most Notion templates look like a Pinterest mood board or are extremely minimalist. I have a distinct pop-up visual style, and I didn’t know if people would like it. Last week, someone bought my template on Etsy just because of the design 🙂
The thing is, I have a creative side, and Notion really brings it out in a unique way. I love being experimental, and it is super fun playing around with Notion.
For example, I made this Daily Planner inspired by Junk Journal Planners. I did not think about money when I made it, and it is one of my favorite templates, with over 20 downloads!
